Project Overview

T&D Design and Build Ltd was appointed to undertake a comprehensive external refurbishment of a residential property in Coventry. The primary aim was to restore and protect the building’s external fabric, improve water management, and ensure long-term weatherproofing - all while maintaining the character of the property.

Scope of Works

Scaffolding

We began by erecting purpose-designed scaffolding to the front, left-hand, and rear elevations, enabling safe and efficient access for the planned high-level repairs and decorations.

Timber Window Repairs

A total of 17 timber windows across all elevations were repaired and redecorated, restoring both function and aesthetic appeal while ensuring the longevity of original materials.

TOR Flat Roof Waterproofing

We installed a TOR liquid waterproofing system across five flat roofs, delivering robust protection against water ingress. The work was completed in line with manufacturer guidelines, and includes a 15-year insurance-backed warranty for complete peace of mind.

Pitched Roof Slate Replacement

We carried out like-for-like replacement of all damaged or slipped slates on the pitched roof to maintain the building’s heritage look and ensure reliable performance.

Rainwater Goods Refurbishment

The cast iron downpipe on the left-hand elevation was carefully prepared and redecorated.
On the rear elevation, we removed obstructive vegetation and replaced a corroded cast iron section to restore effective drainage.

Drainage Improvements

To address damp concerns in the rear yard, we installed a new cement tilt fillet. This intervention now directs water away from the building and prevents future moisture ingress.

Outcome

The refurbishment works significantly enhanced the external condition of the building, improved weather resistance, and preserved the property's historic character. The client now benefits from both improved performance and a long-term waterproofing guarantee — all delivered to high standards of safety and craftsmanship.
